WORKSHOPS, PATHWORKING AND TALKS.

There are no facilities at the riverdreamer studio for workshops to be conducted there, I come to you and can travel throughout the UK. The workshops are good for informal groups of people interested in Shamanism and craftwork, schools and colleges.

‘Dreamcatcher’ Workshop. (approx 2 hours). This popular event includes a short (half hour) introduction to Native American culture and spirituality including a display of plains style weapons, headdresses, drums and rattles. Followed by a practical demonstration and crafting of dreamcatchers. (each person will take their own Dreamcatcher home). Maximum participants, 15.

Cost £60.00, plus £5.00 per person to cover the cost of good quality Native American and re-cycled Materials. Suitable for ages 8 to adult.

INTRODUCTION TO SHAMANISM. A 2 HOUR INTRODUCTORY TALK, EXPLORING THE HISTORICAL AND COMTEMPORARY SHAMANIC CULTURES AND PRACTICES. Includes the shaman’s cosmic outlook, altered states of consciousness, how trance states are achieved, the use of, shamanic sound, mineral ‘allies’, teacher plants’ ideas on ‘walking in beauty’ in a modern word. Suitable for ages 14 to adult.

INTRODUCTION TO CRYSTALS AND MINERALS. THIS IS A 3 HOUR WORKSHOP (INCLUDING MID-WAY BREAK). Please be aware that this is not a geology lesson. It involves an introduction and identification of a selection of crystals and minerals used in meditation and healing. How to select crystals and then cleanse and programme them for use. How to use, wear and look after these ‘allies’, and practical participant involvement exercises! Maximum number 15. Suitable for ages 14 to adult.

INCENSE AND ‘SMUDGE’ WORKSHOP. A 2 HOUR WORKSHOP. PARTICIPANTS ARE INTRODUCED TO THE USES OF PLANTS AND RESINS FOR BURNING AS INCENSE. FIND OUT WHAT ‘SMUDGEING’ IS, WHEN IT IS CONDUCTED AND WHAT PLANTS ARE USED. Make up your own incense mixes for ceremonial or calming uses. Participants need to bring their own mortar and pedestal. Maximum number 15. Suitable for ages 14 to adult.

plus £3.00 per person to cover material costs. (you will leave with a smudge bundle and pot of incense)

DRUM MAKING WORKSHOP. These workshops are quite specialist, involving fleshing ‘green’ (fresh) deer hides and learning to make rawhide from them. Hide stretching cutting lacing and painting in order to create an individual single faced shamanic drum. (old clothes or an apron are necessary). Due to the drying time required for rawhide this workshop needs to be conducted on 2 separate days. (a weekend, Saturday morning until Sunday evening). I need at least one month notice in order to prepare materials for this course. Maximum number 12, and ideally at least 10 students.
